The Maine Coon Cat is the native American longhaired cat and was recognized as a specific breed in Maine where they wereheld in high regard for their mousing talents.
The Maine Coon has a silky fur which requires less grooming than that of the fluffy Persian. The coat is shaggy, with a bushy raccoon like tail and tufted ears and toes. It is one of the largest of cat breeds. These handsome cats come in a huge variety of colours.
The Maine Coon cat is well known for its loving nature, kindly disposition and great intelligence. Maine Coon\'s are especially good with children and dogs and make a wonderful companion for life!
