Christmas Concert
St Luke's C.E.(C.) Primary School
18th December 2001 at 6pm

(Key stage 2 pupils - Years 3-6)

The meaning of Christmas:
Poems by pupils in Year 6

God brought Jesus

Amy Driver, read by her and Danielle Reynolds

God brought Jesus, his the star
which the wise men saw from lands afar.
Jesus lay in his manger bed:
"You are the king," the angels said.

Mary watched her baby lay
sweet upon the golden hay.
Shepherds watched her baby son:
"You are the world's kingdom come."

Jesus slept in his manger bed.
"Mother Mary", Jesus said.
Jesus watched the stars go by:
"You are the moon in the sky."

What Christmas is about

Adam Worsley, Keith Clapham and Nathan Sterling.

Christmas is the time we shout and cheer,
It was the time Jesus was here,
It isn't all about the decorations,
It's all about God's great creations.

It's not about a play-station 2,
It's about when Jesus came to save you.
It's not about Santa Claus,
It's about when you've got to think and pause.

It's not about going to the bar,
It's about that lovely star.
So that's what Christmas is about
When we all sing and shout.

Christmas Time

James Chilton, read by him and Isaac Brown.

Christmas is a time for white white snows,
it falls like feathers as it goes.
It brings lots of snow does Christmas time,
all of which is part of my rhyme.

It brings tons and tons of fun,
now snow's job is done.
But what is the meaning of Christmas?
It's to worship JESUS.

We all thank JESUS for saving our souls,
and in our hearts we have many holes.
He fills them, that lovely person,
then our hate starts to lessen.

JESUS is as sweet as the honey from the beehive -
I'm very glad JESUS was alive.

A joyous time

Lucy Cummings and Amy Cooner, read by Lucy Cummings and Avril Verity.

Christmas is a joyous time,
for Jesus Christ was born.
In a small stable in Bethlehem,
the shepherds arrived at dawn.

Later that night, three kings saw a star,
this star was much brighter than the rest.
This star meant a new king had been born,
a king better than the best.

"O come all ye faithful"

sung by the whole congregation
(the congregation also occupied the gallery):
