Note: this is NOT an official page of the Bradford Diocesan Web Site - it is part of St Luke's Eccleshill's Web Site! What is Bradford Diocese? The Church of England is divided into 43 Dioceses, and Bradford is one of the smallest. It stretches from Pudsey to Sedbergh, and covers parts of Lancashire as well as a chunk of West Yorkshire. You can find out all about it by going to the official web site (link in the left-hand column of this page). The Church of England is governed by an elected body called "General Synod". John Hartley (our vicar) was elected to General Synod in July 2004, and you may read further details by clicking here. Bradford Diocese is governed by a Diocesan Synod, which meets three times a year. Each deanery elects clergy and lay representatives to serve on Diocesan Synod: representatives were last elected in 2003, and serve until 2006. Two of Calverley Deanery's representatives are from St Luke's Church, one of whom is the vicar. Formal minutes are kept of Synod meetings, and these can be inspected at the diocesan office. There are also reports of meetings on the diocesan web site.
