How does St Luke's fit into the wider Christian Church?

The Christian Church consists of all those people who believe and trust in Jesus Christ and follow him. Here are two web sites which try to present the beliefs of Christians and the basics of the Christian Gospel:

Nationally ...

We are part of the Anglican Communion worldwide, and their website gives a good summary of how the Anglican Churches in different countries relate to each other and what they believe. The Church of England is part of this communion of churches, and the official website gives details of our national Church.

The Church of England is divided into 42 dioceses, and we are part of Bradford Diocese which has one of the best websites in the Church of England, and you can find details of other local churches linked to their site.

As well as the Anglican Church, there are many other Christian denominations. They are all united in the central beliefs of the Christian Faith, but there are some matters of church organisation which they see differently. For one view on this question, see an article in our Link magazine.

The different denominations used to be in competition with each other, but our relationship has changed over the last century. Churches Together in England and Churches Together in Britain and Ireland are umbrella organisations which help churches work together.
