The Millennium is 3000 years after David - Worship his heir! "I have anointed David my servant - my hand will sustain him" (Psalm 89:20). The bible can sometimes seem very abstract, when we read the letters of St Paul or the teachings of Jesus. How do we put godliness into practice when we live in a tense and confusing world? To help us, the bible also contains examples of godly people for us to follow. So during August we’ll be looking at three incidents in the life of David, who was king of Israel from 1100BC to 970BC. He didn’t have an easy life, with a war going on when he was young, sustained opposition from a contemporary who was trying to kill him, and a big building project to finance. I hope we can learn from David’s principles, his closeness to God, and his courage in difficulties. John Hartley
