The church at Ephesus

"I have not hesitated to preach anything that would help you..." (St Paul - Acts 20:20)

St Paul visited Ephesus, on the coast of Turkey, during his second missionary journey, and found some “disciples” who had heard about Jesus - but he discovered they hadn’t heard the whole truth. As a result, they weren’t making much impact on their society, they weren’t finding much improvement in their own lives, and their church wasn’t growing. Sounds familiar?

So Paul stayed and taught them, and later he wrote them a letter. This term we’ll be looking at both his visit and his letter, to see if the same principles can make a difference to us. Who knows? If their church mushroomed, so much so that the local tradesmen noticed a change in what people were buying, then what might happen in Bradford today?
