What is the bishop coming for? Bishop David is spending his first year going round the different parts of the Diocese of Bradford ... and he’s chose to do it partly by spending a weekend in each “deanery” in his care. It’s our turn on the weekend of 18th-20th (see page 1). So what are we supposed to do with him? Some deaneries have answered this question by trying to give the bishop the chance to get round all the individual churches and meet all the committed Christians of his area. But that’s not our plan! What we want to do with our bishop is to get him to help us to help other people to get to know Jesus better. So he’s coming to a lot of different special events. The idea is that we, the local people, can bring our friends, have a good time, and let them hear something which they’ll enjoy and in might help them to get to know Jesus for themselves. The different events will all be aimed at different types of people. So, for instance, we don’t really expect anyone to come twice on Friday evening (to the Youth Event and the Girls’ Night Out):
Likewise, we aren’t expecting anyone to both Sunday evening services:
There’s is something for everyone, so choose what you want to come to, and get your ticket requests in soon, because there won’t be a lot of space left. Try to come to something yourself, and try to bring friends who you think would be receptive - they’ll enjoy it. John Hartley
