A thousand badges - wear one!

Calverley Deanery

United Worship

6.30pm Sunday 25th January
at St Cuthbert Wrose.

Commissioning for witness,
Distribution of Badges,
and Confirmation.

All welcome.
Something for everyone

Bishop David will be distributing a thousand badges to churchgoers at a special service in Wrose this month. He is asking all church members to wear them on their lapels during 2004.

The badges follow the Bradford Diocesan Logo which was launched last September. "The words 'future faithful' are about a God who will never let us down," says the bishop, "and the colours indicate the many different parts of the Bradford Diocese, which are united by a keen Christian faith."

The service will take place at St Cuthbert's Church, Wrose, and people from all the fifteen local churches of the Calverley Deanery (Tong to Idle, and Undercliffe to Farsley) will be present.

As well as commissioning the church members who will be wearing the badges, the bishop will also be confirming adults and teenagers who want to make a public statement of following Jesus. At the time of writing we think we will be presenting three candidates from St Luke's Church who have attended the Alpha Course which ran at the Cathedral.

"David our bishop came to visit us for a weekend of celebrations last June", says Paul Walker, Rural Dean of the Calverley Deanery. "He is a lively man with a catching faith. Everyone liked his visit last time. Since then we have had another hugely enjoyable service at Holy Trinity Idle, attended by 160 local Christians from our churches. We're all looking forward to another dose of encouragement, challenge, and fun, to equip us for new service in a new year."
