Ten churches - one Jesus In December I became the new chairman of Churches Together in North Bradford. I think it's important that all Christians work together as far as possible, and I wanted to find a picture to say what we were. So here's my effort. ![]() I started by drawing the crosses on a map. As churches we have a range of buildings which cover nearly a quarter of the city. We're called "North Bradford" because that's what social services, health and education call this area. It's not shaped exactly like a piece of cheese, but it's close enough. We don't reach the centre of Bradford - that's covered by a group of churches called the "Inner Ring". Idle and Thackley are covered by their own group, and so is the Thornbury and Laisterdyke area. So I thought the "quarter of a polo mint" diagram would be a good indication of who we are. CTNB is part of a bigger organisation, which already has a logo - the ship with the cross. ![]() There is Churches Together in England (formerly the British Council of Churches) and a whole range of other bodies (like West Yorkshire Ecumenical Council) all set up to help churches get together. The cross is Christ's cross, of course, and the boat means we're sailing together. Only one problem - the boat is stalled in the lake. Where are the sails? We are the sails! It's us who are going to get this show on the road, as God blows us by his Spirit to where he wants us. ![]() So what do you think of this picture? Please tell a committee representative, as we will be discussing it on 2nd March. John Hartley
