A right time for reflection

The Wayfarers Drama
Group presents

Kairos

A Holy Week meditation
on "the right time"
and timelines in the gospels

Maundy Thursday
7.30pm 8th April

to take place in the context of a
service of Holy Communion

Admission free, but there will be a collection.

The Wayfarers Drama Group joined us in Holy Week 2002, when they presented a passion play looking at Jesus through the eyes of Thomas. They are an ecumenical outfit who have been going 29 years in the Bradford area, and it is our great pleasure to have them back this year.

Kairos is a Greek word meaning "time", but not the sort of time which is measured by a watch and an appointments diary: that would be "chronos". Kairos means due measure, or fitness, or proportion, or when applied to time it means appropriate time or correct season. The play is based on the poem in Ecclesiastes 3: "there is a time for every activity under the sun .. a time to be born and a time to die ..." (you may remember the song "Turn, turn, turn" by Pete Seeger). It presents the disciples' reflections after Jesus' Passion, on how they were called and how it changed their lives. And it asks us how it changes our lives too.

The play will take place in a communion service, and will be followed by refreshments.

We warmly invite you to come! We think you'll find something to think about, something to talk about with your friends, something to stir you inside - like any good film or musical or play does. It's not complicated or highbrow - it's something to help us focus once again on the crucifixion, which the early Christians knew was the very centre of their faith.
