The Star

Sparkle and shine, sparkle and shine,
I am God's holy neon sign.

I shine for a baby newly born
In a cave as cold as a tomb,
I shine for his parents all forlorn
Who could not find a room,
I shine for shepherds who kept their sheep,
While angels sang to them
Of an Infant King not far away
In a town called Bethlehem.

Sparkle and shine, sparkle and shine,
That privilege tonight is mine.

I shine for wise men following me
Over many weary mile,
Their gifts to offer on bended knee
And see the Christ Child smile,
I shine for Mary whose bliss tonight
Surpasses human care,
As mother of God's only Son
Her face looks like a prayer.

Sparkle and shine, sparkle and shine,
Mine is a blessed light divine.

I shine for mankind of every race
Whatever their class or their creed,
That they may know the Saviour's face
I shine and give a lead.
I shine for children of every land
And hope that they may see
My brilliance, like the wise men did,
And simply follow me.

Sparkle and shine, sparkle and shine,
I am God's holy neon sign!

A selection of Marlene's poems are used in Christmas cards which you can buy from the back of our church building, in aid of Guide Dogs for the Blind.
