Activities not directly under the control of the PCC were not reported at the Annual Meeting in March. Instead we decided we would report them in the magazine. Here's the first ...

Report for the 2004 calendar year

Every month throughout 2004 we have held our coffee mornings. Despite any adverse weather they have always been well attended with fellowship and laughter enjoyed by everyone, the coffee ain't too bad either!

This year we tried a car boot sale. It proved a huge success and the weather was very kind too. We had one or two hitches in the kitchen but we know what action is required to run things more smoothly next time. We hope to arrange another in the spring and one in early autumn this year.*

Two jumble sales went extremely well and we will have two more this year.

We will be arranging other events throughout the year and will inform you accordingly.

There is a great deal of behind the scenes work required before any of these events can take place. A big thank you to everyone who helps before, during and after to make things happen. Most of all we thank everyone who buys tickets and comes along to support these events. Without you none of them would be worthwhile. And you must enjoy them - you keep coming back!

Developments and plans for 2005

After a year off to look after a new baby, Angie Hammond is back in harness as the new chair of the committee. Brimming over with ideas, but there's a slight risk she may overdo it if you don't all rein her in!

Three Car Boot Sales have been planned for the year, on the Saturday mornings of May 7th, July 9th and September 4th. The one in May was just nice - slightly fewer cars so the school's car park was nicely filled instead of crammed full, and the bacon butties did a roaring trade. But the vicar did not busk on his trombone in the car park.

The committee is taking over the posters on the "wayside pulpit" notice board, and we are exploring the idea of funding them differently so as to change the messages more regularly. Watch that space!

A coach shopping trip to Oswaldtwistle Mills & Boundary Mills has been organised for 19th November, and tickets are on sale. A make-up demonstration is planned. And thanks, Angie, for the Beetle Drive, and the Silent Auction, ...
