Space for God

Space for God
10am Thursdays
for half-an-hour
at Eccleshill Methodist
Church (Norman Lane).
All are welcome.

"Space for God" is a new initiative for prayer for the people of North Bradford. It takes place every Thursday at Eccleshill Methodist Church at 10am for half-an hour, and everyone is welcome.

The people of Eccleshill Methodist Church have recently been improving the worship area of their building. Most of the wooden pews have been taken out and replaced by chairs, in an effort to make the space more user-friendly, flexible, and of greater benefit to the community. And there have been some "open days" in which they've been asking people how such a facility should be used?

One way is to make more use of the building for prayer, so "Space for God" has moved there from Albert Gayle's house. Prayer is too important to be left to just ministers, and "Space for God" is meant for all local Christians to pray together.

Obviously Albert and his colleagues, who are all Methodists, will be there - but it's NOT just for Methodists. I shall be making an effort to be there, as the Anglican and Methodist Churches have recently agreed a covenant to work together more closely. The time will be led by a variety of different people and it will use different styles. Depending on the numbers present on any day, we may meet in a small room at the back of the church, or we may use the main worship area. We're all welcome to join there, and I hope that Christians of all denominations will be able to meet for lively times of prayer for the concerns of our area.

Methodist Movements

This summer Darren Garfield has moved to Cookridge to become Superintendent Minister of the Headingley Circuit. His place at St Andrew's is taken by Nick Blundell who will work half-time in the circuit and half-time advising the whole district on mission matters. Harry Scott is taking Bolton Methodist Church under his wing (as well as keeping Calverley and Thorp), and Albert Gayle remains as Superintendent Minister, covering Eccleshill and Thackley.

The circuit has also welcomed Sharon Fell as their new Children and Young People's Worker. We wish Sharon and Nick all the best as they settle into this area.
