Our Father Millions of people commit time to watching Big Brother every day. What will happen if Christians join together to commit to pray the Lord’s Prayer every day? Will you join us? You decide. Many of us are concerned about trends in our society today, but we know it’s too easy to sit and tut, and hard to swim positively against the tide. So I was quite impressed with an e-mail which a church member forwarded to me, offering a regular service to help Christians to pray. This page is a sampler - you can join in too. John Hartley Prayer of forgiveness. Dear God, forgive me for all the things I have done wrong, help me in the weak area's of my life to do the right thing, and give me boldness not to get involved in anything that might hurt or bring distress to anyone else. AMEN. Prayer of the desperate. Dear God, I'm fed up living life like this, I need to change and don't know how. I'm praying today to ask for your help, help me turn my life around, reveal yourself to me, that I might know you. I know you are real, and I know my life isn't working the way it could, so please God, teach me about you, your ways, help me get to know who you are. AMEN. The alcohol-related death rate in the UK increased from 6.9 per 100,000 population in 1991 to 13.0 in 2004. The number of alcohol-related deaths has more than doubled from 4,144 in 1991 to 8,380 in 2004. These figures (from the National Statistics Office) are based on a new harmonised definition of alcohol-related deaths that has been recently agreed across the UK. Prayer about alcohol. Lord we pray today about the influence alcohol has within society. We ask you to bring Government to tighten the laws related to the sale of alcohol within our nation. We ask you to help us all to use it more responsibly. We pray for the families of those affected by alcoholism: that you would protect the children of alcoholics and reveal yourself to people addicted to alcohol, that they may know you care for them. We pray that you would reduce the effect of alcoholism on our society, in Jesus Name. AMEN. More at: www.ourfather.org.uk
