Pray as the early church prayed After the experience of meeting with Christians from Wrose and Bolton to discuss in groups as part of our Lent course, we’re taking the opportunity this month of launching housegroups again. We’ll be running for about six weeks beginning as the school terms resume, and then taking a break to review where we’re up to.
The subjects match up with the bible readings on Sundays, and each week’s study will include some discussion about the bible passage and some questions about how it applies to our own prayer life. And there will be some prayers to join in with - an opportunity to pray off-the-cuff for those who like to do that, but also a chance to pray set prayers out loud for those who find them more helpful. You can sign up to join a housegroup on a list at the back of church. A prayer chain Suppose you have an urgent prayer need during the week. How can you get some people to pray about your situation straight away, without waiting for Sunday when it might be too late? We’ve launched a “prayer chain” at St Luke’s. It’s a group of people who have agreed that they’ll receive a request for prayer by telephone, they’ll pray about it there and then, and they’ll pass it on to the next member of the group. All requests will be kept confidential to the group and won’t become gossip. You can place a request for prayer by calling Linda G.
