Mega-Quest

Chorus:
Who? What? Which? Where? When? Why? How?
I want my mega-questions answered now!
    Can anyone tell me best
    the secret of happiness?
Who? What? Which? Where? When? Why? How?

Verse for Monday:
God made a garden filled with good,
Made people to do the things they should,
but the people did wrong and left in shame:
I wonder how things can go right again?

Chorus:
Who? What? Which? Where? When? Why? How?
I want my mega-questions answered now!

...

Verse for Tuesday:
While Moses had a talk with God,
the people all did a thing so bad:
they all worshipped and bowed down to a cow!
I wonder how they can get sorted now?

Verse for Wednesday:
When Jesus died upon the tree
the pain that he suffered was for me.
God was saying he wanted us to live,
and Jesus death meant that he could forgive.

Verse for Thursday:
They walked with Jesus long ago:
They thought he had died, but NO! NO! NO!
Jesus lived again, came back from the dead,
and he can be close to me, in my head.

Each day has the same chorus lines but a different verse to go in the middle, varying with the theme of the bible story. At some point during the week (probably on the Wednesday but perhaps on the Thursday) the final line in the chorus can be changed to "I'll get my mega-questions answered now."

Story behind the song

This song was written (in rather a hurry) for a children's Holiday Club based on the Scripture Union "Mega-Quest" material. The week focusses on "God's big plan for us", and each day zooms in on one part of the unfolding of that plan:

  • the Garden (creation and the fall) on Monday,
  • the Mountain (the giving of the ten commandments and the golden calf) on Tuesday,
  • the Hill (Jesus' crucifixion) on Wednesday, and
  • the Road (Jesus' resurrection and appearance on the Emmaus road) on Thursday.
(The material also had heaven on Friday, but the club was only to run for four days.) on the question of what

Music

Windows Media Player. When you click the left-hand "play" button your computer should have started to play the tune. If it didn't, you might be able to get the tune by clicking here, or by right-clicking the link, choosing "save target as", saving it onto your computer, and then opening it with a music-playing program.

Please remember that a midi file of a tune isn't supposed to be a state-of-the-art musical arrangement - it is only supposed to give a basic idea of how the tune goes. Any reasonable organist / keyboard player / music group could make it sound far better.
