Holidays

Flying in the sky so high,
leads me to praise you, Lord, for all creation;
clouds in layers, gliding by,
reminding me of the breadth
of all you made in heaven and earth.

Diving in the ocean blue
just leaves me overwhelmed: the variation;
shoals of coloured fish in view,
reminding me of the depth
of thought behind the heavens and earth.

The world is carefully, elaborately made,
beautifully woven all together in its many places.
So your grand designing is displayed:
we can see your power and turn to thank you,
receive your graces.

Sailing in a force-five breeze,
the boat in balance with my body leaning,
surfing gusts and waves with ease,
reminding me of the laws
you made to keep the heavens and earth.

Eating foreign foods so strange,
the taste of fruits and spices so appealing;
people varied, such a range,
reminding me of the cause
for which you made the heavens and earth.

For I am fearfully and wonderfully made,
intricately woven all together in your secret places.
So your grand designing is displayed:
I can see your love and turn to thank you,
receive your graces.

Meeting those who follow you,
and seeing you in all their situations;
Jesus, how your word is true,
and so I praise you in all the nations,
Lord of heaven and earth.

Chorus based on Psalm 139:14-15.

Story behind the song

"Worship Live" is requesting material on leisure and recreation, for one of its forthcoming. So this song may give you a clue about what I did on my holidays last week.

Music

Windows Media Player. When you click the left-hand "play" button your computer should have started to play the tune. If it didn't, you might be able to get the tune by clicking here, or by right-clicking the link, choosing "save target as", saving it onto your computer, and then opening it with a music-playing program.

Please remember that a midi file of a tune isn't supposed to be a state-of-the-art musical arrangement - it is only supposed to give a basic idea of how the tune goes. Any reasonable organist / keyboard player / music group could make it sound far better.
