I pray for you

I pray for you

I pray that God may answer you
when you're in deep dispair.
I pray his name may keep you true,
and sharing in his care.

I pray he'll send you help today
from his most holy place.
I pray he'll take your pain away,
embrace you with his grace.

O Lord, save!
Answer us when we call,
O King of all.
O Lord, save!
Answer us when we call,
O King of all.

I pray God meets your deepest needs,
the yearnings of your heart:
I pray his plan for you succeeds,
imparted from the start.

I pray he'll grant you your request,
which he placed in your mind.
I pray in him you will be blessed,
and find that he is kind.

O Lord, save!
Answer us when we call,
O King of all.
O Lord, save!
Answer us when we call,
O King of all.

I know the Lord will save his saints
make all their troubles cease,
and cleanse them from all smears and taints,
release them into peace.

Some trust in strength: a foolish choice,
and they will surely fall.
But we will trust in God: his voice
will always be our call.

O Lord, save!
Answer us when we call,
O King of all.
O Lord, save!
Answer us when we call,
O King of all.

Based on Psalm 20.

Story behind the song

A straightforward attempt to set Psalm 20 to music. The three verses are Ps 20:1-3,4-5, and 6-8; and the chorus is Ps 20:9 (but I've taken the alternative translation, from the footnote of the New International Version of the bible - so instead of "O Lord, save the King ..." it is "O Lord, save! O King ...").

Music

Windows Media Player. When you click the left-hand "play" button your computer should have started to play the tune. If it didn't, you might be able to get the tune by clicking here, or by right-clicking the link, choosing "save target as", saving it onto your computer, and then opening it with a music-playing program.

Please remember that a midi file of a tune isn't supposed to be a state-of-the-art musical arrangement - it is only supposed to give a basic idea of how the tune goes. Any reasonable organist / keyboard player / music group could make it sound far better.
