Not to us be the glory Not to us be the glory Not to us be the glory, Lord, Not to us be the glory, Lord, Why do the nations
Not to us be the glory, Lord, Their gods are idols
Not to us be the glory, Lord, Israel, trust in the Lord: he is your help and shield!
He remembers and blesses us May God increase you,
Not to us be the glory, Lord, Not to us be the glory, Lord, Words copyright © John Hartley 2009. All rights reserved.
Story behind the song I've always loved the parts of the bible which point out how idiotic it is to worship idols which are the work of craftsmen's hands (Isaiah 45) and which ridicule the lifeless statues and images which inspire heathen awe: so this psalm is a natural one for setting in a metrical form. Windows Media Player. When you click the left-hand "play" button your computer should have started to play the tune. If it didn't, you might be able to get the tune by clicking here, or by right-clicking the link, choosing "save target as", saving it onto your computer, and then opening it with a music-playing program. Please remember that a midi file of a tune isn't supposed to be a state-of-the-art musical arrangement - it is only supposed to give a basic idea of how the tune goes. Any reasonable organist / keyboard player / music group could make it sound far better.
