He hears me He hears me I sit in the silence of my thoughts,
I sit in the silence of the night,
Oh! He hears me! I sit in the silence of my dreams,
Oh! You hear me! Wondering gets me nowhere.
You hear me! The final chorus is repeated once. Words copyright © Brian Cookson 2005.
Story behind the song Here's a question for you. How many people do you know who sit down to pray without really wondering about whether anyone is listening, about whether they are worthy of being heard, about what life is all about? And of those people, how many do you know that go through those thoughts and THEN REMEMBER that God really does hear them? Praying is a daily struggle for people, which was what I was thinking of when this song was written. We constantly wonder, or question, or ponder, and all these lead to the conclusion for those who come to the realization that it's true - God hears us. Brian Cookson.
Brian posted the lyrics for this song on the Christian Songwriters Organisation e-mail chat group in Dcember 2005, and it struck me that they were worth setting to music. Our God has not left us alone, and he promises to hear us when we pray in the name of his Son. But sometimes we need a song to knock the truth into our heads. John Hartley

Windows Media Player. When you click the left-hand "play" button your computer should have started to play the tune. If it didn't, you might be able to get the tune by clicking here, or by right-clicking the link, choosing "save target as", saving it onto your computer, and then opening it with a music-playing program. Please remember that a midi file of a tune isn't supposed to be a state-of-the-art musical arrangement - it is only supposed to give a basic idea of how the tune goes. Any reasonable organist / keyboard player / music group could make it sound far better.
