Jesus, wonderful healer

You should see a media player panel above here:
if it doesn't work, see footnote

Jesus, wonderful healer

Hopeless and weary,
Tired and dreary,
Living a life full of sorrow and pain,
Looking for someone,
for a companion,
Someone to come, help me smi-le again

Jesus, wonderful Healer,
Jesus, breathtaking friend,
You're not too busy to hear me,
Jesus, you listen, right to the end.

Some say "Yes, I know"
But they do not go
Through all the trials that I'm forced to go through.
I am not seeking
insincere speaking;
rather I'm longing for someone who's true.

Jesus, wonderful Healer ...

Jesus, I'm trying
to bring my crying,
and trade my sorrow for your joy divine.
You are amazing,
and I am praising
you for your healing in heart, soul and mind.

Jesus, wonderful Healer ...

Jesus can heal anything we go through.
Anything that happens can't touch his love for you.
Jesus will listen, Jesus will touch you,
He heals the pain and gives life that is new.

Jesus, wonderful Healer,
Jesus, breathtaking friend,
You're always with me through every trial.
Wonderful Jesus,
you'll always lead me,
right through to the end.

You're always with me through every trial.
Wonderful Jesus,
you'll always lead me,
right through to the end.

Story behind the song

Brian posted the words of this song on the e-mail critique list of Christian Songwriting Organisation, and I was intrigued by the strong sense of fives in the rhythm of the piece. After revision of the words (to bring in more rhymes), I suggested a tune in 7/8 time to Brian, and after a little tinkering we agreed to adopt it for the song. It's our prayer that the odd nature of the rhythm might reinforce the message of the words: that even when our lives feel off-rhythm, Jesus is there for us with time to listen and concern to heal.

Music

Windows Media Player. When you click the left-hand "play" button your computer should have started to play the tune. If it didn't, you might be able to get the tune by clicking here, or by right-clicking the link, choosing "save target as", saving it onto your computer, and then opening it with a music-playing program.

Please remember that a midi file of a tune isn't supposed to be a state-of-the-art musical arrangement - it is only supposed to give a basic idea of how the tune goes. Any reasonable organist / keyboard player / music group could make it sound far better.
