SOUTHERN SHORE QUEEN
As I sit in my seat by the window,
It's concerning the harbour of Cape Broyle,
Now Cape Broyle I suppose ye all know it,
And then when the night casts its shadow,
My opinion is lost on young people,
Now when we get advanced in the sixties,
Now Cape Broyle is famed for its beauty,
Runs four watern miles into land...a fjord four miles long
And the rain it came pouring in drops,
I will gather my mind on the future;
And I hope it will please you a lot.
Where there's beauty so plain to be seen
And the name that we got for it chosen,
We will call it The Southern Shore Queen.
It runs four watern miles into land;
And it said to be a very pleasant harbour,
And the safest for ships to load sand.
In the harbour they quickly will sail;
Saying Cape Broyle is good for a fortnight,
And to get with the girls we don't fail.
That draw such a crowd to our bay;
And whenever they happen to come here,
It's no less than two weeks they will stay.
We will talk of the day we passed o'er;
Where we sat on the rocks by the roadside,
Watching the sailors come ashore.
It's southeast and nor'west so-and-so;
And for fear my old pen will get contrary,
I'll just ring out and say nothing more.
