Church History: On October 20, 1941, Father Charles Delnotaro of Readsboro bought a building in Stamford that had previously been the Witto Tea Room. Before that it was Dan Morrissey's General Store. The building was remodeled into a chapel with rectory and was named in honor of St. John Bosco who at one time was Father Delnotaro's teacher. The priest would travel from Readsboro to Stamford for weekly Mass until 1942 when he moved into the rectory in Stamford. He then became the chapel's full time priest. In 1948 Father Delnotaro was elevated to monsignor. This was a great honor for him and his small parish. Father Delnotaro retired in 1952 due to ill health. He died in Boston on June 11,1955. Father Louis Scialdone served as parish priest from 1952-1959. Then Father Pompeo Vadacca served until 1971 at which time the parish again became a mission chapel under the care of the Readsboro priest. In 1969 Father Frank S. Warzocha was appointed and served until 1973. In succession came Father Julian J. LaFlamme 1973-1975, Father Joseph P. Paglucia 1975-1984, Father Patrick J. Dennigan 1984-1994, Father James Beauregard 1994-1999, Father Joseph Tate,a priest of the Holy Cross,1999-2002, Father Andrew Scopp , a Priest of the Society of Jesus,2002 -.
