* 1992: Eugenetics Wars begin when a group of genetically bred "supermen" seize control of one-quater of Earth, plunging the planet into a terrible conflict.
* 1996: Eugenetics Wars end. The genetic tyrants are overthrown. One "superman", Khan Noonien Singh, escapes into space aboard the SS Botany Bay, an old DY-100 class ship.
* 2006-2007: DY-100 class ship SS Jamestown in service.
* 2018: Sleeper ships fell in disuse because of advances in sublight propulsion.
* 2267: SS Botany Bay, Khan's sleeper ship, is discovered adrift near the Mutara Sector, Khan and his followers are exiled to planet Ceti Alpha V.
